Origin	The theory emerged shortly after the crash on 31 August 1997, promoted by Mohamed Al-Fayed and tabloid media.
Claimed	Diana was murdered by the royal family or British intelligence services. Her car's brakes were tampered with or the vehicle was deliberately sabotaged. The ambulance was deliberately delayed to ensure her death. Surveillance cameras in the tunnel were not working to hide evidence. Diana had foreseen her death in a letter to her butler, Paul Burrell. The driver, Henri Paul, was part of the plot or was intoxicated as a cover-up.
Evidence / consensus	French and British investigations, including Operation Paget, found no evidence of a conspiracy.
